Interview questions and answers

About herself:

1. When do you find yourself interest in visual art?

When the first time I touched about art, I knew that I am keen on it. (That means when you were in primary school?) Yes. When I knew how to distinguish color, I found I am interest in visual art. I liked drawing lesson the most when I were primary school student. Whatever what topic was talked about in that lesson, I paid fully attention on it.

2. Why will you engaged in art work? Will you worry that not many people are interest in painting?

I think Hong Kong people focus on art more than before. And there is much room to develop art in Hong Kong. People start to understand the benefits of doing art. When they were painting, they felt relaxed, peaceful and concentrated. Therefore, it may be an opportunity and motivation to start my art work.

3. Do you think your work can earn a living or even earn a lot?

I have never thought of earning a lot of money form this studio. However, it is luckily that I can earn a living. Since it’s just my interest, I don’t think it can be a tool to earn a large amount of money.

4. Do you think it is you final career?

Yes, of course. This is my dream and I love my work, so I never think of changing my job.

5. Have you encounter any difficulties when making your interests to your final job?

It was quite hard to maintain this studio at the beginning since not many people came to here. I have thought that whether it was because of the location of the studio or not. Fortunately, many people come to my studio after doing many promotions. Some organizations are also interest to co-operate with me, for example OpenClass (http://OpenClass.hk).

6. Have you thought of giving up when encountering difficulties?

No, since I have a family to support me. No matter what problems occur, my husband will stand behind me. Therefore, I never think of giving up this job.

About her art work:

7. What kind of painting style you like the most?

I like view painting the most. My paintings are always following my current feeling or some picture in my brain. When I went to a beautiful place which left strong image in my brain, I will draw it on the drawing broad. This drawing calls impressionism which means that we just recall our memories to paint it instead of photos.

8. For your students, what kind of painting will you teach?

I would like to teach them how to make use of color, like the combination of different color, the different between cool color (eg. Blue, purple and gray) and warm color (eg. Yellow, orange and red), and using various color to describe one picture. I won’t simply teach them drawing some simple picture. I hope they can learn about the marvelousness on drawing.

9. What do your students expect to learn from you?

They will learn how to make their painting different form others. Because of the various painting skills, a white drawing broad can become colorful and three-dimensional. When they are learning from me, they will think of the way to present their art work.

10. Will you use your painting to represent some messages?

Sometime but I am not usually do it. Since I like to draw with my feeling, most of my art works do not represent something but just my current feeling. For instance, when I was thinking of autumn, I will use the colors which symbolize autumn to draw, such as orange, brown and yellow.
